All lunar eclipses are full moons, which means they signify decisions, fruition and endings but because it is an eclipse, it creates an even more intense energy.
Since the Moon represents emotions and is being eclipsed, this can be a very emotional time, but “emotional” does not necessarily mean sad. For example, a happy conclusion to a situation could bring tears of joy.
Eclipses can also provide insight into situations or relationships, thereby offering us an opportunity to clarify, organize, prioritize and focus on the areas of life highlighted by the eclipse.
If the full moon is making difficult aspects to our natal chart, the decision-making process will probably be more stressful and may involve a confrontation with another person. Since the moon represents the feminine principle, if there is a conflict that needs to be resolved it is likely to involve a woman.
The signs that are involved in this celestial event speak to themes that require our attention at this time, and this month’s planetary pair is the Gemini sun and the Sagittarius moon.
Both Gemini and Sagittarius rule communication, education and travel but on different levels.
Whereas Gemini speaks to an idea, writing, elementary education and local travel, Sagittarius represents entire philosophies, publishing, higher education and global travel.
The subject matter is virtually the same, but the scope is quite different. For example, if we were describing theatre, Gemini would represent a community production and Sagittarius would represent Broadway.
Therefore, with today’s lunar eclipse at 4:14 PM EDT occurring at 24°23 Sagittarius, the theme for the next six months is one of expansion.
However, before we can do that we may need to let go elements from our lives that have been holding us back.
If so, this eclipse will help us identify which relationships, circumstances and projects need to be released, and if something does end under a lunar eclipse, it is usually lasting. For example, if you break up with your partner, the separation will likely be permanent.
Although the theme of this full moon is expansion, the specific issue is unique to each individual based upon where the eclipse falls in the horoscope as well as any aspects it makes within the chart.
Still, we are all being asked the same question:
Are we ready to trade in our “baby steps” for “giant steps”?
